One set of sports equipment per person is allowed. Equipment, as well as fragile things (e.g. musical instruments), should be packed in dense containers with markings that retain their shape. If the equipment has any sharp corners, they should be covered with caps. A set of sports equipment on Ita Airways flights is considered to be:
- a pair of skis and poles and shoes;
- a pair of any kind of skates;
- skateboard, snowboard, surfboard;
- air rifle without gas cylinder and ammunition;
- bow or crossbow without arrows;
- set of equipment for caving or diving;
- mountain sports equipment and spiked shoes.
- any type of weapons and ammunition except for sporting equipment or those types for which a permit is available;
- narcotic substances, components for their manufacture or products that look suspiciously like drugs (e.g. white sugar in unlabeled bags);
- cylinders and pressurized containers. The exception is inhalers;
- explosive and flammable substances such as fuels, powders, greases or oils. Any appliances that contain these substances inside should be stripped of them (e.g. gasoline should be drained from lighters);
- devices that produce a strong magnetic field, radio interference, or emit radiation;
- chemically unstable substances, alkalis, acids and solvents of any kind, as well as alcohol with a volume of more than 1 liter and a strength of more than 60%;
- pornographic or extremist material of any kind;
- batteries with a capacity of more than 180 W, any devices containing these batteries (e.g. portable electric vehicles). Less powerful ones can be carried as long as the device is switched off;
- smart cases or suitcases with non-disable alarms;
- vapes, vape liquids, and any device that creates excessive vapor and smoke;
- objects of cultural value, the import or export of which is not authorized.
Hand luggage regulations
Hand baggage is subject to the same restrictions as baggage allowances. Thus, it is forbidden to take any kind of weapons, ammunition and even their moulages in the cabin. It is allowed to transport collectible edged weapons in scabbards.
Stabbing and cutting instruments and blunt objects that can be used as cold weapons must not be carried. The only exception is medical devices (e.g. syringes with needles) if the passenger has a doctor’s statement.
The following items are not considered hand luggage and are carried freely:
- backpacks weighing up to and including 3 kg;
- flower bouquets, wrapped gifts weighing up to 1 kg and measuring up to 115 cm in three dimensions, candy boxes;
- waist, shoulder or handbags;
- portable electronics (smartphones, laptops) and their chargers;
- baby food kits;
- folding strollers.
Animal transportation rules
Animals are allowed on board only if they have a veterinary passport with vaccinations. At the moment of landing, the animal must behave calmly, not throwing itself at people. Pregnant females and young animals under 4 months of age are not allowed to fly.
Service dogs are allowed into the plane cabin free of charge, with no size restrictions. It is wearing a muzzle and collar and stays close to its owner during the entire flight.
Other pets are placed in carriers with the following requirements:
- be loose enough for the pet to roll over in it or stand upright;
- is made of hypoallergenic material and contains at least one handle on the lid;
- the floor is covered with filler or a fabric that is highly absorbent;
- there is a metal door with a lock that cannot be opened from the inside.
